The All Progressives Congress has accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party of planning to rig Thursday’s Osun State governorship rerun election.
The party in a statement by its acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena said the party received fresh reports from its field agents on the purported cloning of Permanent Voters Cards by PDP agents.
Nabena said the APC view the development as bizarre and a sign of the desperation of the PDP to takeover Osun State by all illegal means.
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to urgently investigate the development and promptly arrest persons behind the cloning just as he advised INEC to ensure that its voters register is not tampered with.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Progress has decided to organize a direct governorship primaries in 17 states across the federation including the Federal Capital Territory.
The party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena in a statement on Tuesday said the primaries, which are scheduled for Saturday, 29th of September across the 36 states and the FCT will see Lagos, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom and host of others selecting the party’s governorship candidates through direct primaries while Kaduna, Delta and 16 other states have adopted indirect primaries to select their candidates.
The party also announced the ban of Adamawa State Working Committee from participating either as delegates or superintendents over the governorship primaries holding in the State.
