Legislative aides at the National Assembly on Tuesday welcomed lawmakers back from their annual recess with a protest over alleged non-payment of salaries, Duty Tour Allowances and other entitlements totalling N5.8 billion.

The protesters, numbering about 50, besieged the lobby adjoining two chambers, bearing placards with different inscriptions amid solidarity songs.

Leader of the workers, Nyakmo Etuk, alleged that they were being owed two-month salary arrears, and DTA since the beginning of the Eight Assembly in 2015.
