The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC says it will on Monday embark on a national rally in Abuja to protest the recent attack on its members by thugs suspected to be from the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngigie.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja at the end of an emergency meeting of the Central Working Committee on Thursday, the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba also charged President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency sack the Minister saying that he has demonstrated with his action that he is unfit to be a minister.
Comrade Ayuba therefore, demanded an apology from the minister and the Federal Government over the action it said infringed on the fundamental right of workers to protest.
Wabba called for the inauguration of the board of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NISTF), with Frank Kokori as its Chairman without further delay.
Meanwhile, Ngige has also demanded an apology from the leadership of the NLC, saying that the invasion of his private resident ran contrary to the Nation’s labour laws.
The Minister while speaking with newsmen after a meeting with the President, promised to inaugurate the Board of NISTF as soon as possible.
