The Supreme Court has fixed July 5 to deliver judgment on the appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Ademola Adeleke in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State.

Adeleke is, by the appeal, seeking the reversal of the May 9, 2019 majority judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which upheld the election of Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Osun State.

On his part, Governor Oyetola through his legal team headed by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wole Olanipekun urged the apex court to dismiss the appeal for lacking in merit and uphold the verdict of the Court of Appeal.

The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad who presided over the proceedings alongside six other justices, said the outcome of the appeal will be binding on appeal number 554 and 555 as filed by also filed by senator Adeleke.
